Table 20 above shows the service delivery measures for Programme 3 – Library and Archives Services.
The department will focus more on the community members accessing library services as well as
community members accessing the archives services.
8.4 Programme 4: Sport and Recreation
Objectives: To provide assistance to provincial sport associations and other relevant bodies to stimulate
the development of sport. Formulate inputs regarding sport policy and promote sport programmes.
Stimulate and present capacity building programmes. Control, promote, and develop the provincial sport
academy. Develop and contribute towards sport marketing strategies. Facilitate development of facilities
with a view to improving life of the disadvantaged. Promote and develop sport tourism through major
events. It consists of the following 4 sub-programmes:
x Management: Provide sport management functions, transport, and administrative functions to the
Directorate.
x Sport: Provide assistance to provincial sport associations and other relevant bodies to stimulate the
Development of sport. Formulate inputs regarding sport policy and promote sport programmes.
Stimulate and support capacity building programmes. Control, promote, and develop the Provincial
Sport Academy. Develop and contribute towards Sport Marketing Strategies. Facilitate development
