2022/23 Second Adjusted Estimates of Provincial Revenue and Expenditure

Total expenditure for 2021/22 was R36.947 billion, representing 99.5 per cent of the adjusted appropriation

of R37.139 billion. Expenditure in the nine months of 2021/22 was R27.648 billion or 74.4 per cent of the
total adjusted appropriation. Expenditure for the nine months of 2022/23 was R30.052 billion or 75.7 per
cent of the total adjusted budget of R39.696 billion. Expenditure for the third quarter of 2022/23, fairly

increased by R2.404 billion, in nominal terms, from that of the same period of 2021/22 mainly due to the
effect of inflationary adjustments in general prices of goods and services.
