          The following targets were changed;

             x Number of agricultural infrastructures completed: revised from 153 to 121;

             x Number of producers supported in the Red Meat Commodity: revised from 3 420 to 1 345;
             x Number of Producers supported in the Grain Commodity: revised from 1 627 to 1 055, and;

             x Number of producers supported in other provincial priority commodities: 371 down to 62

          The changes in the above four targets were largely influenced by the inclement weather conditions in the 3
          quarter, sluggish contractor performance that affected project schedule and delivery of material. Furthermore,
          dam scooping projects in Amathole and Joe Gqabi were differed to the next financial year due to rains that
          made it impossible to continue with work under wet conditions. The anticipated under expenditure is being
          redirected to citrus intervention.

          In the period under review, a total of 4 724, 06 hectare (ha) of productive land against an annual target of 6
          480 ha were protected and / or rehabilitated, thus reviving production on land that has been ruined by invasion
          of foreign species. This is done to encourage the adoption of controlled Land Use to achieve sustainable use
          and management of natural agricultural resources through application of Act 43 of 1983 and Act 70 of 1970.

          A total of 90 agricultural infrastructure projects achieved against an annual target of 121 projects consisting
          of fencing, dipping tanks, stock water dams, livestock handling facilities and stock water systems to improve
          agricultural productivity. These infrastructure projects benefitted a total of 1 495 with 1 011 (1 345 annual
          target)  red  meat commodity, 384 (1 055 annual target) grain commodity, 26 (54 annual  target)  citrus
          commodity producers and 110 (62 annual target) other provincial priority commodities. A total of 477 jobs
          were created through projects against an annual target of 1 027.

          .A total of 5 012 information days were held to promote knowledge transfer and skills to producers towards
          commodity development against an annual target of 5 344, whilst a total of 11 096 agricultural demonstrations
          were conducted to practically educate producers on production methods against an annual target of 15 202
          and a total 580 extension practitioners were capacitated on priority commodities against an annual target of
          831.

          To address number of people suffering from hunger and food security, also impacted upon by drought crises,
          the department, during the period under review planted 21 906 hectares for production of field crops against
          an annual target of 28 529. This resulted in a support of a total of 8 922 smallholder producers against an
          annual target of 8 547 and a total of 15 209 subsistence producers who were supported with the deliveries of
          maize seeds, fertilisers, fertilizer mixture, Black Urea, and the related chemicals for the health and safety of
          these crops against an annual target of 22 620.

          The Department continued with assisting farmers with veterinary support, in that routine vaccination of cattle
          against anthrax and black quarter using a combination vaccine of anthrax and black quarter vaccine was
          administered. As a result, 1 259 620  million animals  were vaccinated against controlled diseases, and
          DRDAR has targeted (annual) to vaccinate 1 332 138 million animals.

          A total of 35 research presentations against an annual target of 22 were made at peer reviewed events, the
          increased use of  virtual gatherings has reduced costs and increased participation making scientific
          researchers and practitioners with similar interests aware of new knowledge within their field and it helps to
