Action:
In support of “Rapid development of high-potential economic sectors”, ECPTA will:

programme
• Support new entrants and previously disadvantaged product owners in the conservation and
tourism industries to attain the standards and levels required to operate successfully in the
mainstream economy.
• Address industry blockages (particularly related to red-tape barriers to entry) with relevant
stakeholders on a case-by-case basis.
• Foster agility among tourism stakeholders in response to tourism intelligence
• Collaborate with national and provincial departments that are leading the development of
coastal hubs and priority tourism growth points.
• Work with municipalities and provincial government departments to ensure that development
plans for affected provincial nature reserves are integrated into overall development plans.
• Continue to offer internship and learnership opportunities to young tourism and conservation
graduates.
• Amplify marketing efforts through increased utilisation of digital and social media platforms
and aggressive smart marketing
ECPTA’s role in “Safeguarding ecosystems and existing natural resources” will include”:
• Enhancing the monitoring and management of biodiversity through the use of scientific data
and digital solutions.
• Managing the process towards the declaration of stewardship sites to increase the provincial
protected area estate.
• Implementing protected area management plans for all declared provincial nature reserves.
• Implementing the biodiversity offsets which are a condition of SANRAL building the N2 wild
coast toll road.
• Facilitating community engagement and awareness campaigns to encourage responsible
resource use and to decrease poaching.
• Enhancing the province’s anti-poaching and reserve security capability through, among other,
close collaboration with law enforcement / security cluster partners, and through the
