In the first nine month period in 2022/23, the total revenue collected was R155.368 million, which is
65.4 per cent of the adjusted estimate of R237.733 million. In the same period in 2021/22, revenue

collection was R125.759 million or 58.6 per cent of the adjusted estimate of R214.742 million. The
main revenue drivers for the department are casino taxes, horse racing taxes and liquor licences,
which vary on a monthly basis and explains the revenue collected in first nine months of 2021/22 that

is much lower than the revenue collection for first nine months of 2022/23.
