number of employed persons in our province increased by 144 000 between Quarter 3
of 2021 and Quarter 3 of 2022. This is a story of good progress”.
We are doing every thing in our power to address the logistic infrastructure backlogs through
formal government Intergovernmental Relations and lobbying targeting seaports, rail and road
networks, water security, broadband connection as a start which would enable our ambition
to set the province as an investment destination.
The honourable Premier has further charged forward to make the point that “The
development of infrastructure at the Wild Coast Industrial Park in Mthatha is
progressing well. Focus is now on bulk infrastructure. Our work on revitalising
industrial parks is continuing. Fort Jackson, Vulindlela and Komani have already
secured investors”.
We have forged partnership with the World Bank Group targeting the coastal belt through
developing a blueprint for revolutionising water catchment at household level including, rural
roads supporting agriculture, production and value chains data management.
We are also cognisant of the importance of municipalities and social partners in achieving our
plans and an environment conducive to investment attraction. We are continuing to cooperate
as government coordination structures through the District Development Model to stabilise
and strengthen our municipalities especially the struggling ones.
To this end, the fastest growing sector in this budget is the Economic sector whilst the biggest
investment remains in Education and Health as Apex Priorities of government.
