PROVINCE OF THE EASTERN CAPE ESTIMATES OF PUBLIC ENTITIES REVENUE AND EXPENDITURE 2023/24
Compensation of Employees has increased from R112.669 million in 2019/20 to R116.430 million
in 2022/23 financial year, due to additional critical posts being added in line with new approved
structure and an inflationary adjustment. Over the 2023 MTEF, CoE has slightly increased to
R132.866 million in 2023/24, R124.534 million in 2024/25 and R130.112 million in 2025/26, due to
additional critical posts and inflationary adjustments.
Goods and Services have increased from R193.766 million in 2019/20 to a R278.150 million in
2022/23 financial year. The increase is in line with increase in departmental transfers for property
refurbishment & modernization and revenue generated by the entity from sale of goods and services
and sale of capital assets. Over the 2023 MTEF, CoE has slightly increased to
R331.537 million in 2023/24, R159.580 million in 2024/25 and R166.728 million in 2025/26.
Payments for capital assets have increased from R6.255 million in 2019/20 to R81.0 million in the
2022/23 financial year. The amount increase is due additional recapitalization allocation for property
modernization and development in 2022/23. Over the 2023 MTEF, increased to R98.0 million,
R23.500 million and R24.553 million, respectively.
Payments for financial assets remained the almost same for 2022/23 and in 2023/24. The entity has
been allocated funding for SMME support as a once off allocation that is reviewed annually.
